Weddicar is a civil parish in Cumbria, in the Borough of Copeland. It is a small, mainly rural area with farmland – mainly grazing for sheep and cattle, and some well-established farms and buildings – one of which, Nether End Farmhouse, dates back to 1624 and is a Grade II listed building.
The River Keekle runs through the Parish. Keekle Community Park is a leisure facility run by volunteers and contains a play area and picnic area. The refurbishment of Keekle Village Hall is near completion where exercise classes, line dancing, Parish Council meetings are held and also village fairs and entertainments.
There have been further extensive residential developments in recent years, such as those at Padstow and Summergrove.
The parish lies close to the larger, more urban areas of Cleator Moor and Egremont and is located to the south east of Whitehaven.
